October 1, 2014 - December 31, 2014 Spiritual Direction at the Shrine of St. Anthony
Spiritual Direction, also known as spiritual companionship, is a spiritual journey of discernment and discovery. It is a relationship among three persons: Holy Spirit, the directee, and the director. The directee invites the director into accompanying her/him on life's journey. Together, in a peaceful and dynamic relationship, the director facilitates the process of discerning and discovering the movements of God in the directee's life. It is a life-giving journey where the art of tuning our lives to the rhythms of God and the art of holy listening are developed and enjoyed as portals to the wonders of God within the directee's life-journey.

We welcome you and invite you to enter deeper into your life-journey through the discernment of God's movements in your life. Spiritual direction offers that experience.

For further information, please contact the Shrine office at 410-531-2800 or info@shrineofstanthony. Spiritual direction is by appointment only. Please let us know your name, best contact phone number, email address, and the days of the week (Monday through Friday only) and times (morning, afternoon, or evening) that you are available for an appointment. A Friar will call you back to schedule an appointment.

The fee for Spiritual Direction is $25 per session (one hour.)
Please pay the fee in the front office upon your arrival and prior to the session....

Eucharistic Adoration on Thursdays
All are welcome to spend time with the Lord during Eucharistic Adoration each Thursday from after the noon Mass until 5:30pm.

Thursday is traditionally the Eucharistic Day in the Catholic Church as it is the day our Lord gave us His Body and Blood at the Last Supper. It is also the day the friars and postulants at St. Joseph Cupertino Friary, of which the Shrine of St. Anthony is part, celebrate a holy hour. In addition, all the friars of the St. Anthony Province (all of the East Coast) celebrate a holy hour for vocations on the third Thursday of each month. The friars are encouraged to invite our brothers and sisters who come to their ministries to participate in this prayerful experience.

The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed following the noon Mass. There will be time for quiet adoration until 4:30pm. At that time, the friars and all present will begin their evening prayers, which include the Liturgy of the Hours (psalms), quiet time, Scripture reading, intercessory prayer, and Benediction.

All are welcome....

Greccio Living Nativity Saturday & Sunday
The Franciscan Friars of the Shrine of St. Anthony invite you to join them and the members of the St. Louis Catholic Church Youth Ministry on Saturday December 6th at 7:30pm. or Sunday December 7th at 7:30pm. as they commemorate the Birth of Jesus in the manner of St. Francis of Assisi in the little town of Greccio, Italy. The Greccio Living Nativity will be the same program both nights. Our service of prayers, Christmas carols, and a living Nativity will take place outside at the Red Barn. Following the Living Nativity, all are invited to enjoy hot cocoa and cookies. Bring your family and friends and discover the true meaning of Christmas! All are welcome.

Legend has it the Christmas Creche or Nativity Scene as it is commonly called, began in Italy in 1223, when St. Francis of Assisi re-created the Bethlehem scene at Greccio. "There simplicity was honored, poverty exalted, humility was commended, and Greccio was made, as it were, a new Bethlehem."

There is no charge for this event. For further information please contact the Shrine office at 410-531-2800 or info@shrineofstanthony.org.
